Is Alexandria From The Walking Dead Real? Yes It Is!

Alexandria might very well be my favorite thing about the entirety of the show the Walking Dead, right up there with Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon. With this being said, I will give a list of things you may not know about Alexandria, like it is a real city/community in Washington D.C. with a population of about 150,000 people, and like the fact that Alexandria outlived all the other survivor settlements that came before it (terminus, the camp, hilltop, the saviors, etc.). Or take the fact that it was the only community that was rebuilt (think the savior community and Woodbury, the Is Alexandria Real?Governor’s camp, went down in flames completely). Add in the fact that you can actually take a tour of Alexandria in real life, and we, my loyal Walking Dead readers, have got ourselves a blog post!

Some major things about Alexandria that I will be going over within this blog post include the following:

Why Alexandria has outlived all the other settlements

Why it was the only rebuilt community

That it is a real place

That it was the only true safe-zone.

That the Comic books focused almost solely on that

And a host of other topics, read on or subscribe to our blog for additional details and information.

Is Alexandria From The Walking Dead Real? Yes, In Georgia

Is looks to be an actual town nearby Atlanta Georgia with a population of around 155,000 people, or at least this is where the majority of the settlement was filmed on the show. Within Washington D.C., it looks to be real as well, in that there is actually a sign that you can drive by and a city with this name within the District. And while the words “safe zone” do not appear on this sign, it is true that it is a real sign that you can drive past just like in the show The Walking Dead.

Why Was Alexandria the Only Community that Was Rebuilt

It says a lot about the strength of our primary group within the show, being Glenn, Maggie, Rick, Daryl, and some of the new group members that they founded the only settlement that was ever rebuilt within the Walking Dead Franchise. It also says a lot about their political ability that they would bring in someone like Negan, the man who once nearly destroyed Alexandria from its core, taking out its people so that it could never re-build again, and brought him into the community so that he could use his experience to help them survive, helping them with the final push to get food and to keep the community safe. In the end, over a very very long span of time, like 8 to 10 years in Alexandria time, it all worked out, as life tends to go.

Why The Alexandria Safe Zone Is Extremely True, Those Who Arrive Survive

The term Alexandria safe zone is somewhat ironic, in that plenty of its people have been chomped alive by monstrous zombies, however it is also true because it is a settlement of people and shelter that still stands. They do not have refrigerators and electricity like it once did in Season 5, but it still has a community of people, and is still a spot that they Alexandrian’s can call home.

Final Thoughts On Is Alexandria From The Walking Dead Real? Final Thoughts

And so, yes, Alexandria is a real city from the Walking dead, though its more of a small town then it is a community and survivor’s settlement. Overall I want to say that Alexandria was one of my favorite parts of the Walking Dead, and I loved the feeling of hope that it brought to an otherwise murky show.
